Radon is
a naturally occuring radioactive gas. It comes from soil and rock
underground. Radon comes from the decay of Radium and in soil radium
comes from the decay of uranium. When radium decays it turns into a gas. Most commonly Uranium is
in granite. In many parts of the country there are layers of granite
under the soil. How
does radon get into our homes? Where is radon most pervelent in the
United states? Find

Why is it so dangerous? Radon is so dangerous
becuase it acts almost like smoking cigarettes.
Once it enters your home it breaks down even more, it makes radioactive
particles that float in the air. When inhailed it goes into your lungs
and brochidal tubes that lead into you lungs. When inside it would
"hold" onto the sensitive cells while putting out radioactive
particles. These particles lead to lung cancer and every year claim the
lives of many.
How long have we know
how
dangerous radon is? We have known
about radon sence the court case in 1984 with Stanley Watras.
